2011 Phillips Family Reunion in Shelby, N.C.

On August 5, 2011, The Phillips Family reunion was held in Shelby, NC.  The 3 day event was kicked off at the Holiday Inn express. The 2011 Reunion committee consisted of Peggy Roberts (chairperson), Margaret WilsonMargaret Wilson, Ruby Griggs, Lenora Ruff Phillips, Lenora Littlejohn, Lucretia Bell, Ida Haynes, Andrea Dula, Mary Ann Philllips, Elaine Williams, and Geneva Phillips. Ms. Margaret Wilson greeted the arriving family members with a warm welcome as they arrived at the Holiday Inn Express hotel. She ensured everyone was registered and received a personal engraved bag with a bunch of goodies inside.

The Phillips Family was excited to be in Shelby and excited about participating in the events the committee had planned for the reunion. Shirley PhillipsYou can tell this by looking at Mrs. Shirley Phillips. You can see she has already received her gift bag with her name engraved on it. There were brochures on the table that had attractions in Shelby.  This was very helpful on helping the family decide what activities they wanted to participate in the next day.

Not all of the Phillips family stayed at the Holiday Inn Express due to availability of rooms. Some stayed within hollering distance at the Hampton Inn. The rooms at Holiday Inn Express were very nice, clean and more spacious than expected.  Holiday Inn ExpressThe hotel Host was very helpful and very patient with the family. I know we were really loud, which is a Phillips family trait.

You can't see from this view, but right in front of the hotel was a mall.  Holiday Inn ExpressThe mall included stores such as Belk’s, Sears and Radio Shack, and many others. It was in walking distance from the hotel.

We were waiting patiently for the first night's event which was a Friday night fish fry which began at 5:00pm. We knew we were in for a treat of a lifetime.

So head on over to the next page which talks about the Fish Fry to see exactly what transpired, what happened, what other foods were there.   They held us in suspense and we were getting hungry just thinking about the food. So come on over and check it out for yourself. Click Here!
